Lesson from the Life of Constantine

Lesson from the Life of Constantine

Constantine is not new to me, but knowing the story of his life in conquering Rome is really new to me. I was glad to know that he actually believed in the Lord but I see that he didn't let God be the Lord of his life which was quite evident through his actions. I was also frustrated to witness the Christian scribe who was supposed to encourage Constantine to believe in God because He is the true God not to use Him as a tool to make himself known all over the world. It was definitely selfish. Besides all of these happenings, it is really true that God used him to enable Christianity to grow and spread that time.

I just realized that God really works in every situation. Even at first it seems too hard to understand but later on we would surely see God's hand mightily working for the glory of His name and for the best for us. With this realization, I need to be more appreciative with whatever situation I may be in instead of grumbling or murmuring.

To do this, first I need to ask God for help, then I will find an accountability partner who would remind me if I murmur again. Then I know slowly with God's help I will be able to do this.

                                                       "Evidence of God's Providence"

I know that the church experienced much persecution but the individual christians only. Like the martyrs, the early christians who experienced horrible death because of thier faith. Now I learned that the teaching of Christianity itself was also greatly persecuted. I really thank God for preserving the church; He is really great not just now or in the future but also even before the world began. It is also a new learning for me about Montanus. It is my first time to encounter someone who claimed to be the Holy Spirit. My view in the church now did get deeper. I appreciate more those Christians who experienced all of those persecutions and confusions.

Studying all about the persecutions the early church experienced, I realized how much blessed I am now. But then it encourages me to value the church more and its history, because it will lead me to understanding more not just about God but also about how He works. I'm so amaze of how He sustain and preserve the church.

In order for me to value the church more, first I will pray to God. I will ask His help, because I know that I can’t do it all by myself. Then I will reflect about what He has done in and for the church both past and in these present times. Then I will share to others what I learned about church history so that they will also realize that GGod is so powerful and is worthy to praised.
